It’s important to place Olympia in visual and historical context with the paintings of the day.

It would be good to show:

  1. The Traditional 19th Century Nude
  2. Some of the Paintings, particularly nudes, from the 1865 Paris Salon
  3. The suggested parody/homage by Manet to Titian’s Venus of Urbino.
  4. The nude paintings done by impressionist/realist painters of his time.
  5. The change of the gaze in the nude portraiture in Manet’s Olympia.
  6. Perhaps in separate page of how Olympia influenced other future works.
  7. Interestingly also, how the Olympia painting was displayed under Manet’s Jesus painting and how the Olympia painting was moved up higher.
